The Reason Why You Get Back Cramps When You’re On Your Period & Natural Remedies To Calm The Pai
Menstrual cycles can be a bittersweet experience for many women. If you’ve been having unprotected sex, it’s a good indicator that you’re not pregnant (even though there is a possibility of being pregnant while on your monthly—however it’s a rare case for many women). Yet even for some women the intensity of their cramps can feel as if they are preparing for child labor. The fun part about being a woman!?!?!
So why do you get back cramps when you’re on your cycle? If you’re getting lower back pain, it is more than likely caused by your uterus having very strong contractions, by pressing down on nearby blood vessels and cutting off the oxygen supply to your muscles. The medical term for this occurrence is known as dysmenorrhea. OUCH!
Depending on the severity of the pain, some women may experience more discomfort than others that could be a red flag of endometriosis. ( See your doctor if you have concerns) Endometriosis is the condition where tissue cells grow outside of the uterus, attaching thicken blood and tissue to other pelvic organs such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the lining of the pelvis. Women who have endometriosis normally have a family history of the disorder.
Please understand that just because you have back pain during your menstrual cycle, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have endometriosis or another medical problem. But it doesn’t hurt to meet with your gynecologist regularly if you are experiencing changes in your health when it comes to your female reproductive organs.
Check out some home remedies you can try to ease the pain other than over the counter drugs or ibuprofen.
Warm water and ginger or Hot Tea and Ginger
The ginger extract can help with joint and muscle pain because of phytochemicals that help stop inflammation.
Try Exercising, Massage Therapy, or even Meditation
Doing these things can increase the endorphins in your body that can also work as a natural pain medicine. Endorphins are hormones that the body naturally produces and can decrease anxiety, stress, depression and even back pain. How cool is that?!

Using eucalyptus oil , almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil can also relax your muscles and relieve the back cramps. Just heat the oil until warm (not hot) and then massage it on your lower back.
Eat 2 to 3 cloves of garlic every morning on an empty stomach or you can even try to massage your back with garlic oil if you don’t like the taste of garlic.
In order to make garlic oil you will also need coconut oil, mustard oil or sesame oil (one or the three will work). Heat the oil on low and then fry the garlic inside the pan with the oil until the garlic is a brownish color. Strain the oil and then let it cool to room temperature. Massage on your back to reduce pain.
